HIGHLIGHTS OF BALI
Without a visit to the eastern part of Bali, your stay would not be complete. The small village offers some of the best silver smith’s, performing a handicraft, which has not changed for more than 25 years.
Ancient Klungkung is the Kerta Gosa, the high court of Bali.
The most important temple, is of course the Besakih, located at the foot of the great Mt. Agung. In fact, it is an extensive complex of 23 separated but related temples. The panoramic view and the mountain backdrop are very impressive too.
The area of Mt. Batur is like a giant dish, with the bottom half covered by lake Batur, and a set of volcanic cones growing in the middle.
Close to Ubud, you will find the “Goa gajah” or the elephant cave. Said to be created from the giant Kebo Iwa, by one of his fingernails. Inside the cave you will find a lingga sculpture of Shiva, his female counterpart “Yoni” and Shiva’s son “Ghanesha” the elephant boy.
